Some of the postwar houses here were built with concrete Finlock gutters, the kind cast in as part of the wall, and those are well known for cracking, leaking and drawing damp and cold into the top of the wall. Where the timber behind the old eaves has rotted, that gets renewed before the new gutter goes up.
